Following a successful first year, Climate Salad is once again partnering with NRMA Insurance to deliver Year 2 of the Help Fund Innovation Stream, supporting climate resilience innovations across Australia.
Introduction to the NRMA Insurance Help Fund
From bushfires and floods to storms and cyclones, we’ve seen the devastating impact of extreme weather on communities. In a changing climate, these events are becoming more frequent and severe. That’s why the team at NRMA Insurance believe more needs to be done to help prepare communities and build awareness around climate resilience. Help Fund is an NRMA Insurance initiative that aims to support climate resilience initiatives in Australia through a multi-million-dollar commitment over a number of years.
In the first year, the fund provided $1 million to support emerging climate leaders, community resilience projects and innovative solutions that are focused on helping communities better prepare for the impacts of extreme weather. The fund's second year is now underway.
Innovation Stream
The Help Fund will provide funding to support emerging climate leaders, community resilience projects and innovative solutions that are focused on helping communities better prepare for the impacts of extreme weather.
The Help Fund Innovation Stream will provide grants to support local climate innovations that aim to address risk, resilience, and adaptation.
Key Dates
- 14 August – 9 September 2026 - Applications open
- ‍21 September 2026 - Shortlisted applicants notified
- ‍6 October 2026 - Shortlisted applicants meet online with our panel of experts to pitch their project and answer questions before final recipients are chosen.
- 9 October 2026 - Successful grant recipients notified
- 19 October 2026 – June 2027 - Successful recipients commence the 8-month support program and begin implementing their projects.

Year 2:Â Two Grant Types
In Year 2,  the Help Fund Innovation Stream will award eight grants across two funding streams:‍
- Growth Grant: Four grants of $100,000 each for organisations with established climate resilience solutions ready to scale or deploy.
- ‍Emerging Founder Grant: Four grants of $25,000 each for founders with climate resilience solutions ready to be implemented into Australian communities.
Young founders & First Nations Innovators:
Applications from young founders, First Nations innovators and founders from underrepresented communities are particularly encouraged.
All successful applicants will participate in an 8-month tailored support program delivered in collaboration with Climate Salad.

Projects should bring new or unique approaches to tackling climate risks, backed by evidence or testing.

Strong applications will demonstrate financial viability and a path beyond the grant period.
